Compliance Lawyer

We have a great, new opportunity to join a prestigious Law Firm in Guernsey who are looking for a Compliance Lawyer to provide specialist legal risk-based advice on complex areas of regulatory compliance. This role is well-suited to someone with 3+ years of PQE in a litigation or corporate role within a private practice or an in-house legal role, looking for their next opportunity or a transition into compliance. 

Prior experience within a legal compliance environment is desirable, whilst an excellent working knowledge of AML / CFT, regulatory and sanctions legislation is highly advantageous. Candidates experienced in stakeholder and or cross-jurisdiction communication management would excel in this role, but experience in a wider compliance sphere is also welcome.

Some responsibilities:

• Provide legal advice to senior management on legal matters such as risk management, data protection, conflicts of interest
• Oversee litigation and dispute resolution processes
• Stay informed on relevant legislative/regulatory changes and ensure policies/procedures are promptly updated
• Implement comprehensive compliance training across the firm to keep staff informed of relevant regulatory and legislative updates
• Ensure the firm’s policies and procedures comply with relevant laws and regulations in operational and business activities
• Address regulatory risk and compliance issues/queries, including conflicts and AML
• Address with data protection issues, such as data breaches
• Maintain systems, processes, policies and procedures
• Assist in the negotiation, review and drafting of contracts and other legal documents
